Resolution Games CEO Tommy Palm believes virtual reality is inclusive, accessible and that the right experiences can blow people’s minds.

Speaking after two days of judging in the Global VR Challenge, Palm said hs favourite VR games were those that start with the familiar, and then do something different by utilising the medium to create a new experience.

The next step

He added that mobile VR has a promising future given the constant increases in computational power for smartphone devices and its accessibility to most people.

Palm cautioned however that VR is still in its infancy and we're still at the beginning of the VR revolution, so the technology may take time to fit into our everyday lives.

The Global VR Challenge was created by Steel Media, publisher of Pocket Gamer, in association with China’s leading VR company, DeePoon.

The goal is to identify the best new VR games development talent and concepts from the UK, Europe and the rest of the world, and help bring them to the world’s biggest VR market, China.

Palm is one of a number of expert judges for the Global VR Challenge that also includes:

  • nDreams’ Patrick O’Luanaigh,
  • ex-ARM director Nizar Romdan,
  • DeePoon’s Leon Zhang,
  • ustwo’s Peter Pashley, and
  • Steel Media’s Craig Chapple and Simon Aubrey Drake.
