82% of all mobile games are downloaded on Android devices, finds Unity

82% of all mobile games are installed on Android devices, while 17% are installed on iOS devices, according to new research.

Unity has released its Q2 2016 Global "Games by the Numbers" report, which looks at data from over 4.4 billion installed Unity-made apps on devices across the world.

It claimed there are more installs on Android devices than iOS in every global market aside from Japan, where 53% of games are installed on iOS devices.

Better with age

The older iOS devices are still the most used, with the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 making up a combined 28% of game installs, while the 6s and 6s Plus make up only 15% of installs.

On the Android side, Samsung devices account for 35% of all game downloads, which is almost triple the amount of downloads that its two main competitors, Xiaomi and Huawei, have combined.
