Pokemon GO generating $10 million daily revenue without cannibalising the market

Pokemon GO is generating $10 million a day in revenue, according to App Annie.

The intelligence firm has claimed that the game's popularity has also not had a meaningful impact on the revenue or usage of other apps.

The report showed that while there was a dip in revenues in other games in the US, UK, and Germany five days after launching in each market, revenues returned to their previous levels shortly afterwards.

In Australia, the revenue for other games actually saw an increase before its dip, but once again balanced out around seven days after launch.

AR you ready?

The results aren't a huge surprise, since the majority of revenue is generated from a very small number of players, who are unlikely to be investing the same amount of time and money into a wide variety of games.

Instead, App Annie suggests that Pokemon GO's main impact on the mobile market is to popularise AR, and recommends developers implement even basic AR mechanics into games and apps to capture the growing interest.
