Super Mario Run App Store listing notifies players of release and sheds new light on gameplay

A new 'Notify' button that gives users the option to be alerted when the game is released has been added to the App Store for Nintendo and DeNA's upcoming Super Mario Run.

Notify buttons are more common on Google Play. The Android store already has a more explicit pre-registration function built in, though it's rare for a game to offer notification of its release months before it's due to be launched.

The listing also sheds new light on the different modes available in the game. These include both single-player and asynchronous multiplayer platforming, as mentioned when it was first revealed.

It's-a-free

There's also a mode that allows you to build up your own Mushroom Kingdom using coins collected in platforming stages. In-app purchases are also available, presumably to buy more coins to upgrade your kingdom faster.

Super Mario Run is expected to launch on iOS in December 2016, and will be free-to-start with a fixed price to unlock the rest of the game.

DeNA and Nintendo are also focusing in on the game as its next release, which means DeNA's Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem titles have been delayed until 2017.
