Amazon Lumberyard Beta 1.5 goes live with new Asset Builder SDK

Amazon has released Beta version 1.5 of its Lumberyard game engine with more than 210 fixes and improvements.

Beta 1.5 offers a more customisable and personal Particle Editor, a more modular and intuitive Component Entity system and the introduction of the Lumberyard Asset Builder SDK.

Shaping up

The SDK enables developers to use the Asset Processor to track, reload, automatically rebuild and process any assets for their game.

All of the above features are currently in preview, through which Amazon is encouraging constructive feedback from its users to help shape the direction of the new build.

Other additions include support for the OSVR headset and Clang on Android, performance improvements to the Asset Processor and a VRAM profiler to optimise game graphics.

Features Editor

Matt is really bad at playing games, but hopefully a little better at writing about them. He's Features Editor for PocketGamer.biz, and has also written for lesser publications such as IGN, VICE, and Paste Magazine.
