Israeli hardcore strategy developer Tacticsoft raises $1 million to work on ambitious new game

Tel-Aviv based developer Tacticsoft has closed a funding round of $1 million to help towards development of its ambitious next title.

The investment comes from London Venture Partners and Israeli angel investor Gigi Levy-Weiss. It is LVP's first investment in an Israeli company.

Tacticsoft is the developer behind strategy title Super Mechs, which launched on Android and iOS in 2015. It has achieved over two million downloads to date and its revenue has more than tripled in the last six months.

A new dawn

The studio is currently working on Battle Dawn: Earth Arena, a hardcore strategy title that is also aiming to attract a mid-core and casual audience.

The game will combine a sandbox world, hardcore strategy gameplay and a social component to appeal to all these different markets.

"It's like having a WhatsApp social experience with a really epic experience, like taking over the world," said Michael Rosen, CEO of Tacticsoft.

"That is what we are doing with Earth Arena. We are trying to expand the audience of the hardcore strategy genre into a more mid-core and even a little bit casual audience."
