Mobile messaging app Telegram adds bot-powered gaming platform for in-chat gaming

Mobile messaging app Telegram has added a bot-powered gaming platform that allows users to play games directly from the app with other members in the chat.

Users can start a game by interacting with the bot or invoking it in the chat. Players can then share the game with their friends directly through Telegram.

Invoking the bot in chat will allow users to jump straight into the game within the chat. Telegram will also save players' high scores so that they can compare them later.

Get in on the action

Telegram has also opened development of games for the chat bot to other developers. Games made are built in HTML5, and Telegram claims that developers could make any type for game for the platform.

The gaming platform will also not require any additional disk space, as it uses HTML5 and therefore loads in assets and code when needed.

Developers can begin making games for the platform straight away. Telegram has released the API to help developers add their games to the chat app.
