French book publisher Hachette Livre has acquired a majority stake in London-based app developer Brainbow Ltd for an undisclosed amount.
Brainbow is known for its subscription-based self-improvement app Peak. It has received over 15 million downloads and was named Best App by Apple in 2014.
It is the second mobile developer acquisition by Hachette in 2016 after it picked up British mobile game developer Neon Play in June.
Another step
"After Hachette UK acquired Neon Play in June 2016, the acquisition of Brainbow is another step in Hachette Livre’s mobile strategy," said Arnaud Nourry, Chairman and CEO of Hachette Livre.
"The co-founders are talented experts who will bring new skills to Hachette Livre. We are delighted to welcome them into the group."
