Gameloft has soft-launched its new open-world action game Gangstar New Orleans in the Philippines.
The sixth major entry in the Grand Theft Auto-inspired Gangstar series, first established with Gangstar: Crime City in 2008, the game boasts dozens of story-based missions in a full open world as well as PvP Turf Wars.
A triumphant return?
Since 2008, there have been six releases in the Gangstar series - the most recent of which is 2013's Gangstar Vegas.
Vegas was a premium game, albeit one with additional in-app purchases, but Gangstar New Orleans is set to be a the first entry in the series to go free-to-play.
It's hard to imagine how this manifests itself in an open-world crime game, it being a genre not traditionally associated with mobile - let alone free-to-play - but it's an ambitious effort from the French publisher.
