Gameloft pits itself against CSR Racing with recently soft-launched Asphalt Street Storm Racing

Gameloft has soft-launched the latest entry in its Asphalt racing series titled Asphalt Street Storm Racing.

The game was first soft-launched on December 22nd 2016 and is currently available on iOS in the Philippines, Romania and Vietnam.

The game breaks from tradition by focusing on drag racing and rhythm-based gameplay instead of the typical racing titles the series is known for. It appears to be a direct competitor for NaturalMotion's CSR Racing games.

Head-to-head

The two games share a number of features too. Asphalt Street Storm will focus mostly well-time gear changes, car collection, and online races, much like CSR Racing 2.

Asphalt Street Storm differentiates itself with a pre-race minigame involving driving your car onto the starting line and features four-player races instead of CSR's one-on-one races.

This is the second reinvention of a Gameloft franchise currently in soft launch. Gangstar New Orelans is also available in the Philippines and takes the open-world series into a free-to-play model for the first time.
