Jagex's Phil Mansell becomes acting CEO as Rod Cousens departs

Jagex has named its former VP of Studios Phil Mansell as its new COO and acting CEO following the departure of former CEO Rod Cousens.

Mansell joined Jagex in 2011 as a Lead Designer and has worked his way up through the ranks with stints as a Design & Monetisation Manager and Executive Producer.

Cousens joined Jagex in 2015 as CEO following 10 years as CEO of Codemasters. A reason for his departure from Jagex has not been given.

Stronger every year

"Driven by a passion for creativity, our teams are focussed on what really matters for the core business - supporting our live titles and their huge communities and leading the creation of new games for multiple devices," said Mansell.

"We have become stronger with every year that passes and now that we are united with our parent company, ZhongJi Holding, it is both an honour and a privilege to be take Jagex to its next stage."

Jagex was acquired by China-based investors at Hongtou in 2016. Hongtou was then acquired by ZhongJi Holding in September 2016, thereby making it the new owner of Jagex.
