It’s nearly that time of year again, when seemingly the entire game industry converges on San Francisco for the Game Developers Conference. Or GDC as it’s better known.
As such, this means that it’s also time for the Big Indie Pitch to once again roll into San Francisco and put the spotlight on all the amazing mobile games currently being developed by the indie community.
Last year we saw Hidden Folks take the crown with its unique Where’s Wally? inspired game, but what kind of entry will win this year? Well, if you’re an indie developer currently working on a mobile, handheld, mobile VR, or even a smartwatch game, then it could well be you if you register for our Big Indie Pitch @ GDC 2017.
For those new to the Big Indie Pitch, this competition puts the spotlight on the indie development community, and gives developers four minutes to sit down with a range of industry experts, journalists, investors and publishers in a unique speed dating format.
The event not only allows developers to get their games in front of these industry experts, but also includes the opportunity to receive immediate feedback, alongside the chance to win a range of prizes.
Prizes include winning a share of a $5000 promotional package that can be used across all of Steel Media’s websites, including Pocket Gamer, AppSpy and PocketGamer.Biz.
Interested, but not sure if you qualify? Then maybe this will help:
- You can pitch games for mobile, handheld, mobile VR, and even for smartwatches.
- You can pitch your game even if you've pitched it at a previous BIP.
- We prefer to see unreleased games, though we're happy to see games that are out too.
- Your game doesn’t have to be completed, as we welcome games in development.
- One submission only per developer/team.
- Deadline for entries is midnight February 25th 2017 (entry details below).
The Big Indie Pitch is also a great opportunity to network with fellow indie developers, alongside the industry at large, and even if you're not pitching you're more than welcome to register over here on our event page for a spectator ticket for the event.
This event page is also where you'll want to head to in order to not only find out more information about the Big Indie Pitch, but it's also where you can register your details with us if you want to pitch. We'll then let you know if you've been shortlisted and what to expect next.
Hopefully we'll see you at GDC 2017!
Oh, and if you are coming along, don’t forget to bring your business cards.
