Mobile makes little impact as Ubisoft sales drop to $564 million

Soft-launched Rabbids Crazy Rush given a release window after lengthy testing period

Mobile makes little impact as Ubisoft sales drop to $564 million

Ubisoft (EPA:UBI) has released its financials for its Q3 FY17 for the three months ending December 31st 2016.

The publisher posted sales of $563.9 million, down 5.7% year-on-year, and it did not post profits for the quarter.

Its sales for the last nine months meanwhile were $863.4 million.

Ubisoft also did not give any specific numbers on its mobile sales. It stated that its "other" platforms, which includes mobile, accounted for 5% of all sales. This suggests sales of $28.2 million for this segment.

Ubisoft did say that its MAUs were up 33.1% for the last nine months, and that digital revenue accounted for 47.2% of all sales. That said, it is now treating certain console titles as games-as-a-service, which is likely what is informing these results.

Looking ahead, Ubisoft did not explicitly mention any mobile games, but it did outline its release schedule for Q4 FY17. City of Love: Paris, Horse Adventure: Tale of Etria, and long soft-launched title Rabbids Crazy Rush are all expected to launch in the period.

Ubisoft is currently fending off a potential hostile takeover by conglomerate Vivendi, which acquired 25% of Ubisoft shares in December 2016.
