Eight Pixels Square tops UK and France App Store charts with Retro Soccer

Derby-based mobile games developer Eight Pixels Square has topped the App Store's overall free download charts in the UK and France with its new game Retro Soccer.

The title launched on March 23rd and jumped to the top position in France on March 25th. It then went on to top the UK chart on March 27th.

Retro Soccer has also found its way into the overall top ten positions in Germany, Italy and Spain since launching. It broke the top ten free games download chart in the US and is currently in the top 50 for all apps on the US storefront.

Top of the league

"We couldn’t be more thrilled to see Retro Soccer climb up to the top of the UK and French charts in just a few days, with so many other players also joining in from around the world. It's testament to the hard work that the team have put into the game," said Mat Sneap, VP and co-founder of Eight Pixels Square.

"We're delighted that our reinvention of classic soccer gameplay for the touch generation has been such a hit. We look forward to continue building on this success, further tuning Retro Soccer into an even finer beast with added challenges and features."

Eight Pixels Square was acquired by Dundee-based developer Outplay Entertainment in December 2016 to bolster its midcore capabilities. The Derby studio is known for midcore games such as RAID HQ and Cartel Kings.
