Netmarble's Lineage 2: Revolution was the top grossing mobile game worldwide in February 2017, according to SuperData Research.

The firm released its monthly worldwide digital games market report for February 2017, which studies the performance of games across the industry.

Lineage 2, currently only available in South Korea, beat out perennial hits Monster Strike and Clash Royale to the top spot. Pokemon GO took the fourth spot while Mobile Strike landed fifth place.

The usual suspects

Game of War, Clash of Clans, Fate/Grand Order, Fantasy Westward Journey and Honour of Kings rounded out the list.

SuperData also highlighted Blizzard's CCG Hearthstone, noting that it experienced its worst monthly revenues on mobile ever. It claimed this is due to gameplay updates that have proved unpopular with fans, along with an increase competition in the genre on the platform.

Lineage 2 has been a major hit despite having so far only launched in South Korea. It generated $176 million in revenues in its first month of release and is the fastest mobile game to hit $100 million in revenues.
