Nintendo Switch the fastest selling console in the company’s history

Nintendo’s Switch console sold 906,000 units in the US March to make it the company’s fastest selling system ever.

The Switch’s flagship game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is said to have sold 925,000 copies in the US, strangely more than the hardware that’s been sold.

Perfect attach rate

Nintendo claims this discrepancy could be down to people buying both the limited edition of the game and a normal version.

The figure means that Breath of the Wild has a 100% attach rate for the Switch. A further 460,000 units of the title were sold for the Wii U.

At a combined 1.3 million units, Breath of the Wild has become Nintendo’s fastest selling launch game of all time.

Market research company SuperData estimates the Switch has sold around 2.4 million units in total during its first month. It predicts full-year sales could reach as high as 7.2 million.
