Zynga has launched the latest in its revamped With Friends franchise with the iMessage-powered GIFs Against Friends.

The developer has partnered with GIF sharing platform Tenor to gain access to its GIF searching tools. Players will be given a prompt, and then have to find the GIF they feel best matches their answer to win.

Innovating play

"As one of the foremost game publishers on the App Store for iMessage, we're constantly looking for new ways to innovate on how mobile users are playing and communicating," said Mark Kantor, General Manager at Zynga.

"We're proud to partner with Tenor, the leading mobile GIF platform, in reimagining how people are connecting by bringing this engaging, entertaining GIF competition directly into the conversations players are already having with their friends and family."

The game comes just one month after the last With Friends addition, Boggle With Friends. Zynga also recently returned to its roots and soft-launched a mobile edition of its popular Facebook game Mafia Wars.

Zynga spent much of 2016 focusing on its "forever franchises", and looks to be continuing to do so by focusing on familiar themes and games. It appears to be working too – the developer is now generating more revenue than EA's mobile division.
