Fire Emblem Heroes, Pokemon GO and more pick up nominations for Google Play Awards 2017

Google has revealed the nominees for its upcoming Google Play Awards which will be held on May 18th 2017 during the Google I/O developer festival.

Niantic's Pokemon GO continued its awards streak with a nomination in the Best Game category. It faces Kabam's Transformers: Forged to Fight, Netmarble's Lineage 2 Revolution, Nintendo's Fire Emblem Heroes and Pixelberry's Choices.

Indie smash hit Reigns from Nerial picked up a nod in the Indie Standout awards. The other nominees for the award are Loju's Causality, Raw Fury's Kingdom: New Lands, Pomelo Games' Mars: Mars and Untame's Mushroom 11.

Put 'em up

The Best Multiplayer Game also sees strong competition, with NaturalMotion's Dawn of Titans, EA Mobile's FIFA Mobile and Blizzard's Hearthstone all receiving nominations. IGG's Lords Mobile and Game Dev Ltd's Modern Strike Online round off the category.

Hutch Games' Hot Wheels: Race Off picked up a nomination for the Best App for Kids category. It faces off against apps such as Toca Boca's Toca Life: Vacation.

A notable exception from this year's list is Clash Royale. Google stipulates that nominated apps must have been released, or have seen a major update, since April 2016. It was, however, nominated for Best Game in the first ever Google Play Awards in April 2016.

The Google Play Awards will be held at Google I/O on May 18th. You can view the full list of award categories and nominees on the Android Developers blog.
