Particle City ditches CCG for RTS in next mobile game Titanfall Assault

More likely to capture the series' "action-packed gameplay"

Particle City ditches CCG for RTS in next mobile game Titanfall Assault

Los Angeles-based mobile developer Particle City has revealed its second game using the Titanfall IP titled Titanfall Assault.

Unlike its first effort, short-lived CCG Titanfall Frontline, Assault is a real-time strategy game. It appears to be entirely PvP-based, but it's not yet clear how much control players will have over their units.

Much like Frontline, Assault will see players building decks of cards based on Titanfall characters. Players will need to use a mix of Titans and Pilots in their squads, which can be combined to be more effective.

Mobile respawn

Particle City was spun-off from Titanfall creator Respawn Entertainment in 2015 to specifically work on mobile Titanfall games. The two developers are working in partnership with Nexon and originally had plans to publish "several" games based on the franchise for mobile.

Its first effort, Titanfall Frontline, was soft-launched in September 2016. It was canned just four months later, with all the game's servers shut down on January 20th 2017.

"We've learned an incredible amount in the beta test of Titanfall: Frontline, but in the end felt the experience wasn't ready to deliver the intense action-packed gameplay synonymous with Titanfall," wrote Particle City at the time.
