Keywords Studios continues spending spree by acquiring CMS developer XLOC for $900,000

Keywords Studios has made yet another acquisition with the purchase of CMS developer XLOC for $900,000.

The Raleigh-based developer is behind the XLOC web-based content management system which can be integrated into any major 3D game engine.

This can be used for more efficient localisation across multiple languages at a time.

"XLOC brings to the Group a scaleable, leading, proprietary software application that is embedded in to the localisation processes of games developers," said Fabio Minazzi, Global Head of Keywords Studios’ Localisation Services.

"Its system is relied upon from an earlier stage than Keywords Studios has typically been involved and will enable the Group to provide integrated software and services across the full localisation cycle, in addition to offering XLOC as a standalone solution."

Buy, buy, buy

Keywords has been on an acquisition spree for several months now, starting back in October 2016 when it picked up Player Research for $1.6 million. Most recently it acquired animation studio Spov for $1.5 million.

The spree is paying off, however. Its revenues were up 67% to €96.6 million in its FY16, with profits growing 86% year-on-year to €14.9 million.
