Mobile fiction platform Bound has signed author and screenwriter Andrew Saxsma to write a series of stories based on Gunslinger Studio's upcoming game Exiles of Embermark.

Saxsma will be writing stories to provide additional lore to the game prior to its release. Character profiles, maps and bestiaries will be released as well.

The first part of his series is due to launch on Bound in June 2017.

Andrew Saxsma has written for numerous mediums, including novels, short stories, comic and video games. He was head writer on Ozwe Games' mobile VR game Anshar Wars, which won an IMGA in 2015 for Best Virtual Reality Game.

A breath of life

"We're super excited to collaborate with Andrew on the backstory and lore of the world we're creating for Exiles," said Tim Harris, founder and CEO of Gunslinger Studios.

"His approach to the history and characters that inhabit Embermark is lockstep with our vision of a collapsed continent being reclaimed over time. And each time we see one of his episodes of narrative in Bound, we get new ideas for gameplay and features. It's really helping to breathe life into a new world."

Gunslinger already has another award-winning writer on board for the game itself - John Scalzi. His credits include the Old Man's War series, Redshirts and Stargate Universe.

Exiles of Embermark is a fantasy RPG from Industrial Toys spin-off Gunslinger Studio. The developer is gearing up for a summer 2017 launch following a $1.4 million seed funding round in December 2016.
