Rockstar Games tests the Nintendo Switch waters with an L.A. Noire port

Not the most obvious choice for a port

Rockstar Games tests the Nintendo Switch waters with an L.A. Noire port

Rockstar Games is testing the waters of the Nintendo Switch by porting its 2011 detective game L.A. Noire to the console due to release on November 14th 2017.

The game will feature Switch-specific features, including motion controls, HD rumble, and new camera angles. Touchscreen functionality will also be available when players are playing in handheld mode.

All current-gen consoles are receiving a port, along with Rockstar's first attempt at VR. The HTC Vive will receive its own release with a handful of cases rebuilt for VR technology.

Cracked wide open

L.A. Noire is an interesting choice for Rockstar's first game on the platform, especially given that its game Grand Theft Auto V continues to be a top-seller and would likely generate more sales. However, it could be that the developer is remaining cautious about the new console for the time being.

It is not the only developer remaining cautious about the Switch. EA is testing the waters with its own Switch-specific edition of FIFA in 2017, for example.
