The Walking Dead: Road to Survival developer Scopely opening new studio in Barcelona

The Walking Dead: Road to Survival developer Scopely is opening a new studio in Barcelona, Spain.

According to Viaempresa, the developer is reportedly set to invest between €2 million to €3 million in the new studio and could employ as many as 60 staff in 2018.

The office represents the company’s first expansion outside of its native US.

The news follows the recent announcement of a $60 million Series C funding round. The company had raised $55 million from investors just a year prior to that in 2016.

Road to success

Scopely’s portfolio of games includes The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, Yahtzee With Buddies and WWE Champions, as well as the currently in soft launch Temple Run: Treasure Hunters.

In total, its raft of titles have garnered 125 million downloads and have proven to be very lucrative for the copmany.

Scopely was recently ranked 27th in the PocketGamer.biz Top 50 Developer 2017 list.
