Google Play launches Apps and Games Against Hunger week to combat world hunger

Google Play is running a charity campaign in which 100% of all revenues generated from IAPs bought in specific games and apps will go to World Food Program USA.

Running from October 16th to 21st, 12 games and apps on the Google Play store will add new IAP to purchase. 100% of all revenues from these IAP will be donated to the charity after the event concludes.

Games included in the Apps and Games Against Hunger event include Kabam's Transformers: Forged to Fight and Marvel: Contest of Champions. Rodeo Stampede, Legendary and Animation Throwdown also feature in the new Google Play category.

Feed the world

"We grow enough food to feed everyone on the planet. Yet 815 million people - one in nine - still go to bed on an empty stomach every day," wrote Google Play's Partner Development Manager Maxim Mai in a blog post announcing the campaign.

World Food Program USA works to mobilise lawmakers and businesses around the US to end hunger and feed families in need around the world.

Google Play recently partnered with creative agency Ideas United to launch its new Infinite Deviation program. The initiative is designed to improve diversity and representation of underrepresented groups in computer science.
