Tencent opens pre-registration campaign for Arena of Valor in US and Canada

Tencent has kicked off a pre-registration campaign in the US and Canada for the upcoming launch of its massively popular mobile MOBA Arena of Valor.

The campaign gifts potential players a limited-edition skin when they sign up. Players can unlock additional rewards by inviting friends to register and following other steps, with the chance to unlock every hero for free if they complete every step.

Registration is only open to residents of the US and Canada, since these are the main territories that the game has yet to launch in. It also appears to only cover the mobile edition of the game – a Switch version is planned to go into open beta later in 2017.

A new audience

Tencent has revamped the Western release with a new UI, new controls, altered graphics, and a soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer. The developer has also struck up a deal with DC Comics to bring its characters to the game in the West.

Honor of Kings remains one of the biggest games in China, even allegedly causing sight loss in people who play too long. However, it has had a harder time gaining traction in Europe.
