Valve licenses Portal IP to Headup Games for branded Bridge Constructor game

Bridge Constructor Portal is not the game we expected, but exactly the one we deserve

Valve licenses Portal IP to Headup Games for branded Bridge Constructor game

Bridge Constructor developer Headup Games has partnered with PC gaming behemoth Valve to develop a licensed edition of the physics-based bridge building game using the Portal IP.

Appropriately titled Bridge Constructor Portal, the game will play out like a traditional Bridge Constructor game. Players must build suspended paths across enormous chasms for trucks to drive across without crashing down into the abyss.

New for this edition will be elements of the Portal series, including the titular portals for trucks to drive through. The voice of series villain GLaDOS will also return to narrate the game.

First time experiment

Bridge Constructor Portal is due for release on December 20th 2017 on Android and iOS. A Switch version is also expected in early 2018.

Outside of an official Steam app and games released exclusively on the Nvidia Shield, this will be the first time a Valve property has been available on mobile. Valve did make a step into VR back in February 2015 with SteamVR, but it was a PC-only venture.
