Avakin life developer Lockwood Publishing opens first international office in Lithuania

Avakin Life developer Lockwood Publishing has set up shop in Europe with a new office in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Lockwood’s Vilnius team will primarily be responsible for backend operations for Avakin Life and are likely comprise of up to 15 backend developers.

The British games developer is also planning to scale Avakin Life as a platform, which will allow third-party developers to create content.

The role-playing game was originally released back in 2013 on iOS and Android and has since managed to pass the 3.5 million mark for monthly active users. The social app allows players to meet up and chat, dress up their avatars and decorate their apartments and travel to an array of locations.

Avakin a good time

The news comes swiftly after Lockwood Publishing expanded its operations with the opening of a studio in Newcastle.

“So far, the company has been working out of offices in Nottingham, Newcastle and Leamington, which will now be complemented by the new team in Vilnius,” said Lockwood Publishing CEO Halli Bjornsson.

“Lithuania has excellent developers, especially in the field of backend server development, and this opens up a gateway of talent not only from Lithuania but also from Russia and other countries in the Baltic region.”
