Twitch pulls in 82% of viewership hours of top 20 streamed games in Q1 2018

Twitch pulled in 82 per cent of viewership hours from the top 20 streamed games in Q1 2018, according to market intelligence firm Newzoo.

Alongside YouTube Gaming the pair have generated 2.5 billion hours worth of watch time so far this year.

YouTube Gaming racked up 481 million hours and featured five mobile games in its top 20 most watched games. The titles included Moonton’s Mobile Legends, Supercell’s Clash Royale, Mixi’s Monster Strike, Tencent’s Arena of Valor and Garena RoV.

Comparatively Twitch chalked up just over two billion hours in the same period but did not feature any mobile games in its top 20.

The only mobile title to appear in the combined top 20 games, as ranked by watch tiime, was Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, which generated 99.4 per cent of its viewing hours on YouTube Gaming.

Overwall the top five streamed games were League of Legends, Fortnite, Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and DOTA 2.

Victory Royale?

While Twitch still owns the lion share of hours regarding viewership, it's previously been reported that YouTube Gaming saw rapid growth in 2017 as it increased its active streamer base by 343 per cent.

It may only boast between a quarter and a third of the audience found over at Twitch, but the growing popularity of Fortnite could help push YouTube Gaming even further in 2018.

Spanish YouTuber ElrubiusOMG recently broke the record for most concurrent viewers on a gaming stream on YouTube, while popular Twitch streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has amassed over six million subscribers on his YouTube channel since Christmas with content taken from his twitch stream.
