Google Play has welcomed seven games and 14 apps into the Android Excellence program.
Android Excellence is a quarterly lineup of what the store considers flagship titles for the platform. Excellence games and apps are a limited selection chosen by Google Play editors to exemplify the best apps on the store.
A spot on the list is awarded to apps that are optimised to run perfectly on Android devices, and make use of new platform features.
Shortlist
Seven games were chosen to make the list this July. Popular titles like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and World of Warships: Blitz made the list, but Android also shone a spotlight on smaller titles like moth collector Flutter: Starlight.
Twice as many apps made the list, including organisational tool Trello and podcast manager Pocket Casts
Android Excellence kicked off last June, as an effort to recognise high-quality applications on Google’s mobile platform. The first lineup included games like EA's Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, Square Enix's Hitman GO and Kill Shot Bravo by Hothead Games.
