Zynga has launched customisable tile styles in Words With Friends 2 alongside a month-long breast cancer awareness event.

Tile styles let Words With Friends 2 players swap out the default yellow of letter tiles with a variety of colours and patterns. These are unlocked through materials earned through play.

With October marking breast cancer awareness month, Zynga is launching the feature with a collaboration with Susan G. Komen. Through October 1st to 21st, players can pick up Pink Ribbon tiles as part of an awareness campaign.

The developer has also set a donation goal to tie-in with the event - if up to six million Pink Ribbon tiles are played by the 21st, Zynga will gift up to $100,000 to Susan G Komen. Even if that milestone isn’t hit, the company will still donate a minimum of $75,000.

Pretty in pink

“Words With Friends 2 is one of our most popular and beloved franchises, and we are always looking for fun ways for players to create socially shareable moments,” said Zynga president of publishing Bernard Kim.

“That’s why we’re proud to partner with Susan G. Komen to honour a cause that many are personally passionate"

Susan G. Komen SVP of development Christina Alford added: “We are excited about this partnership with Zynga and thankful for their participation in our fight.

“The Pink Ribbon Tile provides a perfect opportunity for people to marry their passion for Words With Friends with their compassion for their friends and loved ones and their desire to make a difference.”
