High-performance racing organisation Formula One has entered a multi-year partnership with mobile games developer Hutch to expand its digital presence.

The Top Drives and Smash Cops studio will create multiple licensed games on Android and iOS for Formula One.

Hutch is an established name in mobile racing games, with flagship title Top Drive passing three million downloads this time last year.

Driven to succeed

“As a studio of petrolheads, this partnership with Formula One is an exciting opportunity to take Hutch to the next level,” said Hutch CEO Shaun Rutland.

“Following a series of successful global brand partnerships, we see huge potential for mobile-first games, that will engage the Formula One community.”

Formula One director of digital, licensing and new business Frank Arthofer added: “Since Liberty Media’s acquisition of Formula One, we have sought to establish partnerships that can enrich the experience of fans via innovative digital channels.

“We see Hutch as a leading mobile game development and publishing partner that can enable and reinforce that initiative, ensuring we engage our expanding, passionate worldwide community of fans.”

Hutch itself has been busy bolstering its ranks with new talent, recently recruiting a trio of hires from Jagex, Firefly and Sega.

Hutch product owner Ian Griffiths will be a speaker at Pocket Gamer Connects London 2019, which takes place on January 21st to 22nd.
