UK developer Stainless Games supporting iPhone
UK indie developer Stainless Games has announced that it'll be making iPhone games, including several titles going live "in the launch window" of the iPhone's App Store.

The company says it's added iPhone to its in-house development platform Beelzebub, and is champing at the bit to make the most of Apple's handset and related store.

"I personally go back a long way with Apple; having started out writing for Apple machines in 1979 – and have had a lot of success on Apple platforms over the years – particularly with Carmageddon 1 and 2, and my own Crystal Quest IP," says CEO Patrick Buckland (pictured).

"Given recent trends, the iPhone is doubly interesting – since it's both a truly next-gen machine with an 'always-on' connection and a format with a great direct sales route to the consumer."

It'll be interesting to see if Stainless plans to develop entirely new games for iPhone, or simply port across its older titles.

Meanwhile, it's rumoured that the App Store may launch as soon as 5pm GMT tomorrow (Thursday), rather than Friday as previously expected. Needless to say, we'll be poised at our keyboards to report on all the launch titles if it does.
