Bango launches one-click cross-platform mobile billing system
Mobile payments company Bango has launched its open in-app billing system that works across all mobile platforms, including Symbian, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and iPhone.

Based around operator billing, credit cards or PayPal, it enables publishers and developers to set up flexible ways of generating cash including one-time payments or in-app subscriptions via wi-fi or operator networks. This is handled via web-based integration to provide single-click billing.

Any which way

As well as giving developers full control over when and how to charge the consumer, along with pricing and currency, they can sell content, virtual goods and add-ons from within apps.

Examples include using trial versions of apps and games to upsell consumers; something that's becoming more important in terms of off-app store distribution via aggregators such as GetJar and Pocket Gear.

"Converting browsers into buyers is the fundamental challenge for vendors trying to capture customers," said Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango.

"Bango's new in-app billing solution overcomes these issues by giving developers full control over the pricing and promotion of their applications."

You can get a free 30-day trial of Bango. Typically the billing service costs from $99, £59 or €79 per month.
