iAd bound for UK and France in December, Germany in January
Having launched in the US in April and with a Japanese debut via Dentsu lined up for 2011, Apple has cast light on its plans for the one major market missing from its iAd blueprint – Europe.

UK and France are set to be the first territories to see an iAd roll out this side of the Atlantic, with a launch supported by ads from 12 major partners expected in December.

The platform will then expand to Germany in January 2011, Apple has revealed, with ads from L'Oréal, Renault, Louis Vuitton, Nespresso, Perrier, Unilever, Citi, Evian, LG Display, AB InBev, Turkish Airlines and Absolute Radio available from day one.

All go iAd

"We're thrilled to add leading global brands to the iAd Network in Europe and create even more great opportunities for developers," said iAd VP Andy Miller.

"In just four months, we’ve doubled the number of advertisers on the network and thousands of developers now have a valuable new source of revenue."

Apple also used the announcement to blow iAd's trumpet, revealing that the platform signed over half of the top 25 leading US advertisers in its first four months.

On the flip side

Not everyone has heaped praise on iAd over the course of the past six months or so, however.

Many advertisers have complained that Apple's control over the creative side of the platform has resulted in their ads taking far too long to reach the consumer.

Business Insider also alleged Adidas pulled a $10 million iAd campaign in early October, Apple's controlling influence again being the cause.
