With a specific focus on upping its social standing on iOS, UK based publisher Chillingo has formed a partnership with Facebook developer MetroGames to bring its titles across to Apple's platform.
The new relationship will see MetroGames releases both old and new heading to the App Store under the Chillingo banner, kicking off with Facebook title Pixel Ranger.
Meeting of social minds
"By combining our game development capabilities and creativity along with Chillingo's impressive marketing and distribution strategies, we aim to duplicate our success on Facebook to the mobile category," said MetroGames CEO Damian Harburger.
Harbuger added that Pixel Ranger will be built from the ground up, and will be followed by a number of new IP specifically developed for iOS.
"They are great developers who've had extremely successful social games," commented Chillingo senior manager of developer relations, Levi Buchanan, with the publisher having just passed the 140 million downloads mark on iOS.
"I suspect it'll be a shallow learning curve. Folks who play social are already used to playing outside the previously defined borders of what is a video game."
