GREE has announced two new Sid Meier games are bound for its social games platform for mobile after the firm signed a deal with Take-Two publishing label 2K.
Both Sid Meier's Civilization and Sid Meier's Pirates! Legends will be developed at 2K's studio in China, with the two companies set to work together to introduce coherent social features to both franchises.
Take two, take three
"GREE's social games have generated tremendous interest in Japan and are a driving force in making Japan one of the most fascinating social gaming ecosystems in the world," said Take-Two Asia's VP of online and social, Fabien Siouffi.
"Creating social mobile games based on the Sid Meiers Pirates! and Sid Meiers Civilization franchises are our way to connect with Japanese fans in a fun and innovative way."
2K has also announced a partnership with Cyberagent to bring the publisher's NBA 2K franchise to GREE in Japan, further cementing the publisher's commitment to the platform.
"We are excited to work with a renowned publisher like 2K, as it expands into the social mobile space and takes its award-winning franchises to the next level of gaming," added GREE CEO Yoshikazu Tanaka.
"Our goal is to build the best global social mobile gaming ecosystem for players, developers, and publishers around the world. This partnership is a big step toward evolving the traditional gaming world by creating a worldwide network for all types of gamers."
