Former PopCap studio director Todd English joins GameDuell

GameDuell has announced that former PopCap studio director, Todd English, will be joining the firm as the head of studio social and mobile games.

The Berlin-based causal games outfit has hired English in a bid to strengthen its "accelerated move into the growing market of new games platforms".

English, who has over a decade of development experience under his belt, will lead the development and product teams working on all Facebook and mobile games.

Experience matters

GameDuell CEO and co-founder, Kai Bolik, said that English's background made him the perfect candidate for the position.

“With his extensive background in casual games production Todd was the ideal fit to reinforce our management team," explained Bolik.

"He combines an impressive track record of successful game IPs, proven management experience in highly competitive environments, international market insight and deep development know-how.

"Under his lead we will drive our ongoing move into the dynamic market of mobile, social and cross platform games."

Vantage point

Speaking about his new position, English stated that he was attracted to GameDuell because of its unique position within the market.

"I am incredibly excited to join GameDuell. In our industry it is rare to find a company that is uniquely situated to take advantage of the shifting market," said English.

"Everyone here is dedicated to doing the right thing. I’m excited to be part of this environment and to add my knowledge and skillset to an already well positioned team."

What do you call someone who has an unhealthy obsession with video games and Sean Bean? That'd be a 'Chris Kerr'. Chris is one of those deluded souls who actually believes that one day Sean Bean will survive a movie. Poor guy.
