Korean giant Gamevil sees overseas sales jump more than 160%

Pushes Q2 revenues past $13 million

Korean giant Gamevil sees overseas sales jump more than 160%
Citing rapid expansion in overseas markets, Korean publisher Gamevil (KDQ:063080) has announced revenues of 15.2 billion KRW – equal to around $13.4 million – during its second financial quarter of 2012.

That represents year on year growth of 55 percent, with both operating profits rising by a similar degree to 6.4 billion KRW ($5.6 million) and net profits hitting 5.9 billion KRW ($5.2 million).

The global game

Said growth, the company claims, is in part the result of the success Gamevil has enjoyed with games sourced from its $10 million partner fund – the firm's indie outreach program that brings promising third-party games into the Gamevil fold.

But its a 161 percent jump in Gamevil's overseas sales that is really powering the company forward, with half year sales rising by 96 percent to 31.8 billion KRW (around $28 million) as a result.

"Our global smartphone download customer base is currently at a breakthrough 150 million and is an important stepping stone as Gamevil looks forward to its future in the global market," said CFO Yong Kuk of the results.

"Through strengthening brand awareness and continuing to release new quality games, Gamevil will work hard for continuous success."

Gamevil claims the second half of the year will see the company further invest in its aforementioned partner fund, with the company also targeting "additional distribution" of its titles to Japan and China.
