Com2uS ignores Android Market with exclusive GetJar launch for Slice It!

In the footsteps of Angry Birds

Com2uS ignores Android Market with exclusive GetJar launch for Slice It!
Following on from an Angry Birds' launch so popular it took down GetJar's servers, Korean publisher Com2uS has taken a similar route to release the Android version of its game Slice It!.

Ignoring the main Android Market, it's launched first on the free app cross platform store.

"We're excited to launch the Android version of Slice It! on GetJar," said Don Lim, general manager at Com2uS.

"GetJar's global reach as well as its unique App It! download service ensures we reach a massive audience who loves simple and fun puzzle games. GetJar is the perfect complement to Android Market by extending our game to millions of people in more than 200 countries all over the world."

Driving downloads

"We are thrilled that Com2uS has decided to offer the full Android version of their game to millions of GetJar consumers first," said Patrick Mork, CMO at GetJar.

GetJar is the largest thirdparty app store, and hosting around three million downloads daily - the same as Nokia's Ovi store.

It's aggressively expanding, particularly in terms of offering high quality games, which it pays publishers to release for a limited period.

Labelled GetJar Plus, the initiative launched with Glu Mobile, although it's not clear whether the Com2uS deal is part of the scheme.
