Powered by Puzzle & Dragons, GungHo reveals daily revenue rate of $4.9 million

But sales set to slow in second half of 2013

Powered by Puzzle & Dragons, GungHo reveals daily revenue rate of $4.9 million

Puzzle & Dragons developer GungHo Online pulled it $763 million in sales in the first half of 2013, representing a colossal year on year rise of more than 945 percent.

As a result, the company has posted an operating profit of $460 million – up more than 4,331 percent – and net income of $287 million, up 2,609 percent.

However, while the half yearly figures are eye watering enough on their own, when you break down the numbers to the April to June quarter, it's revealed the company is bringing in a daily revenue rate of $4.9 million.

Slowing the juggernaut

Despite the strong sales, however, there are signs that Puzzle & Dragons' stratospheric success might be losing momentum, however.

While the popular match-three game recently topped 17 million users in its home country of Japan, the growth rate for new players appears to be slowing down.

As a result, it's predicted GungHo will move to launch the game in certain countries across Europe last this year, and the firm has just launched a fresh game in the US, called Freak Tower.

Further, GungHo also announced revenues for July have come in at "just" $138 million. If this figure holds for the next two months, GungHo's would see its daily sales drop to $4.5 million per day for the third quarter of 2013.
