Infinity Blade II gets asynchronous ClashMob social update
Epic and ChAIR have released a free ClashMob social battle mode update to Infinity Blade II, also cutting the price to aid the promotion.

The update adds a strong community slant to the Unreal 3 engine-powered game with social globe challenges and mob recruiting through Facebook and Twitter.

In addition, there are new characters, in-game items, and a gem crafting feature called Gem Forge where you can create more powerful gems.

To usher in the new update, Epic has cut the game's price from $6.99 to $4.99, which should be an incentive to newcomers as the update also includes gameplay enhancements and graphical optimisation for Apple's new iPad.

Enhancing the social aspects of the gameplay, you can recruit friends and team up in what's called MyMob. You earn special perks together as you unlock achievement and rewards.

"Massively multi-player gaming is something that resonates deeply with our audience and we feel the ability to now deliver this type of gaming experience, asynchronously on a mobile device is a real game changer," said ChAIR's creative director Donald Mustard.

In January 2012, the Infinity Blade series had generate sales of $30 million at which point its sequel, which was no more than a month old, accounted for $5 million.
