PapayaMobile expands base beyond Android, takes social gaming platform to iOS

Looks to connect two ecosystems

PapayaMobile expands base beyond Android, takes social gaming platform to iOS
Tales of games and platforms alike finding their feet on iOS before risking a move to Android are ten a penny. Movement the other way, however, is far more restricted.

That's exactly what PapayaMobile is planning, however, with the social gaming specialist revealing both its game engine and social SDK – established players on Google's OS – are on their way to Apple's platform.

The move is not only a bid to expand PapayaMobile's base, however. The firm also claims developers operating on both operating systems will also benefit, able to export both iOS and Android version of their game from one code base.

As such, users will be able to connect, linking up cross-platform via player challenges, game invitations and leaderboards.

"While we've experienced great success and growth by mainly focusing on the Android platform since our launch in 2008, we feel that now is the right time to expand our offerings to the iOS market," explained CEO and co-founder Si Shen.

"Both iOS and Android are here to stay and the release of our iOS toolset allows our developers to maximise user engagement and distribution through our cross platform social graph."

Papaya claims several games on its platform – including X-City by Aidi Game, Contagion by 2Clams, and Burger Joint by Arctic Empire - will make their iOS debut in the coming weeks.
