Heading to Beijing next week? So is Pocket Gamer
Chris James, the MD of Pocket Gamer's publisher Steel Media, really loves those free headphone sets they give you on planes to listen to the in-flight movie with.

Well, that's the only reason we can come up with as to why he's in the air so often. Either that, or Mr. James really does love attending a mobile conference or two.

That might explain why he's popping along to two different ones in Beijing next week.

2 for 1

First up is the Global Mobile Game Confederation, set to take place on Monday 6 May in Beijing's China National Convention Center.

The annual event for 2,000 attendees is described by its organisers as a hive of "cutting edge information on dominant trends and progress in the industry", with training, competitions, speeches, panel talks and roundtable forums all on the agenda.

More information can be found on the conference's website.

Straight after that, running from 7-8 May is the Global Mobile Internet Conference, also bound for the city's National Convention Center, with organisers dubbing it as "Asia's largest and most influential mobile industry event".

Seconds out, round two

"GMIC Beijing has been especially successful at connecting leading mobile companies in US and Europe to those in China and Asia," details the event's website.

"As such, GMIC is the Launchpad for many companies entering China like Evernote, Flipboard, Halfbrick, and Rovio."
