Qihoo 360 sees its share of Chinese search market grow to 21%

The Android app distribution market in China is extremely fragmented.

That's why there are so many different stores and platforms all competing for market share.

The upcoming player during 2013 has been Qihoo 360, which has leverage its popular anti-virus products to become a large channel for app distribution.

Finding it

Now it's also building up its reach when it comes to general search, if the numbers from Chinese traffic stats outfit CNZZ are to be believed.

It has market leader Baidu with a 62 percent market share during October 2013, down almost 12 percent year-on-year. Baidu recently made its own move into the Android app distribution business, purchasing 91 Wireless for $1.85 billion.

Meanwhile Qihoo 360, which only entered the search market in August 2012, is up almost 12 percent to 21 percent.

The company says it expects to reach 25 percent market share by the end of the year.
