$49.99 on a two-year plan

Xperia Play coming to AT&T in the US on September 18
Having previously launched exclusively with Verizon, Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play is now coming to AT&T stores in the US.

Available from 18 September, it'll be available for $49.99 on a two year contract.

AT&T will be providing its customers with an exclusive 'stealth blue' version of the Playstation-certified phone, along with additional accessories including the Sony Ericsson Multimedia Dock DK300 and an MC100 music cable.

Games, games, games

Seven games will come pre-installed with the phone -  Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave, Asphalt 6 Adrenaline, Star Battalion, Madden NFL 11, The Sims 3, Tower Bloxx: My City, and Crash Bandicoot.

"Xperia Play is the only true gaming smartphone and Sony Ericsson is creating a new and unique market category," said Steve Walker, global head of marketing at Sony Ericsson.

"Games are the most popular content for smartphones and Xperia Play users are at the forefront in downloading content. This presents a major opportunity for operators."

After all slow start, the device has been gaining strong support with developers, with over 150 titles optimised for its controls.

However, there's no news about the install base, something Sony Ericsson's Tim Harrison said was unlikely to change anytime soon.

"We don't release sales figures or per device figures, so that's not going to happen," he told us.
