Windows Phone head Belfiore 'flattered' by iOS 5 upgrades
God bless companies that allow their top executives to have Twitter accounts.

In reaction to Apple's iOS 5 unveiling (which, depending on who you go to, either blew everyone away, or left most feeling rather bored) Windows Phone Program Management director Joe Belfiore has claimed Apple's stance validates the position Microsoft has taken with its own OS.

In fact, Belfiore goes as far as to say he's "flattered" by Apple's move.

Faux flattery

"Feeling flattered today," said Belfiore.

"Lots of great WP ideas headed to iOS. Camera button/above lock, auto-upload of pics, better notifications, wi-fi sync, built-in Twitter, background download service, short-messaging chats - though we do Facebook!"

Apple has come in for criticism from some quarters for offering what many believe is little more than a standard cloud-based synchronisation service, albeit under the iCloud brand.

Others, however, think iCloud has the potential to pay dividends for Apple in the long run, as our mobile activities are increasingly taken off device and saved in the cloud.
