Delhi rising: LINE reaches 30 million registered users in India

LINE has announced that its increasingly popular messaging app now has over 30 million registered users in India.

By hitting the 30 million user mark LINE has already increased its foothold in India by 10 million users since the end of 2013.

The app was first released in India in June 2013, a month that saw the app receive heavy backing from a pricey TV ad campaign.

600 million and counting

Those figures, however, are but a mere drop in the ocean, with LINE already boasting over 600 million registered users globally.

Of course, LINE is still intent on seizing control of the Indian market, with LINE spokesperson Damandeep Singh Soni revealing that the firm will be partnering with Groupon and Jabong to offer special deals and discounts to users based in India.

LINE will also be hoping that its recently released stand-alone iPad app can help it become the number one messaging service.
