Perfect World CEO Robert Hong Xiao on a strategy for global F2P success

Chinese PC, console and mobile publisher Perfect World is a key player in its domestic market and how it's expanding internationally.

At Pocket Gamer Connect London 2015, we spoke to CEO Robert Hong Xaio about his plans for the year.

A key fan of the free-to-play business model, Xiao says it works across PC, console and mobile, and the company is also expanding its genre mix, toning down its more hardcore PC games for a casual audience that is playing on the move and that has a lot of time, but time that is fragmented into short bursts.

The company currently has 20 mobile games in development, of which around a third are developed outside of China.

Xiao hopes this will provide the company with a portfolio of mobile games that will be appeal to different tastes and enable the company to be successful globally.
