Capcom's Monster Hunter Explore resurfaces in Taiwan after cancellation of global launch

Capcom's previously cancelled Monster Hunter Explorehas resurfaced in three countries in Asia.

It was re-launched in Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong on October 28th on Android and November 16th on iOS. The game is still being published under Capcom's name, so it's definitely the official game.

It appears to be an older version than the one available in Japan, which has been updated consistently since it launched in 2015. This older version used the same artwork as the version soft-launched in Canada earlier this year.

Up in the air

The game was canned outside of Japan after just two months in soft launch with no explanation from Capcom. This was after achieving three million downloads in its home country.

What exactly this means for the game is unclear. It is most likely that Capcom will focus on the game for the Asia market, following its success in Japan.

However, the App Store description does feature an English-language translation, so there is still the potential for Capcom to take another shot at a global release in 2017.
