Xiaomi surpassed $1 billion in revenue in India during 2016

China-based mobile device manufacturer Xiaomi has surpassed $1 billion in revenues in India just two years after it first launched in the region.

The manufacturer states that its shipments to India grew 150% in 2016 after it decided to start focusing more on the region when sales slipped in its home country of China.

Xiaomi also claims to have sold two million devices in India in Q3 alone. It sold 500,000 units in 3 days in October 2016.

A great motivation

"This achievement is a great motivation for us to deliver even more high-quality, disruptive products in the coming year," said Manu Jain, Xiaomi's India Head.

"It speaks volumes about the love and trust Mi fans have for Xiaomi, and we are extremely thankful to everyone who were a part of our journey. We look forward to an even better 2017."
